Award Given to Women United In Faith

(United Methodist Women)

Member Deb Strecker nominated our Women United in Faith for a Pleasant Prairie Woman's Club Community Pilanthropic Award. On May 12, 2022 they were presented with an award and grant ($300) for their work with Period Poverty. Kris Brown, President of Women United in Faith accepted the award on behalf of the church.

In the commendation cited, these words were offered "We feel your organization is doing a great job for our community and wanted to show our appreciation for a job well done."

The financial portion of the award came from the June E. Nelson Philanthropic Awards Fund. June was a long time member of First Church. Her son, Scott and daughter in law, Kathie, are active members.

The Women United in Faith have been concerned about young women missing school because of an inability to purchase hygiene products during the times of their menstrual cycles. The Women United in Faith have encouraged First Church members to purchase feminine hygiene products and donate them as part of our Love in Action Drives as well as continue to work with state legislation to have feminine hygiene products available in every school.

One with all Creation....
