Nourish Your Body, Mind, and Soul: Summer Wellness Opportunities 🌿

As the sun warms our days and summer brings a shift in our rhythms, it offers a beautiful invitation to pause, breathe, and reflect on how we are caring for ourselves. This summer, our church community is thrilled to offer a vibrant lineup of Summer Wellness Opportunities explicitly designed to nurture your body, your soul, and your mind.

Our bodies are a profound gift from God. As the Apostle Paul reminds us in Scripture, “our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit.” Taking care of our physical health isn’t just a practical necessity—it is an act of stewardship and worship.

The Wisdom of John Wesley: Prevention over Cure

Did you know that well-being was a foundational pillar of early Methodism? John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, passionately believed in holistic health and prioritized prevention over cure. Long before modern wellness trends, Wesley advocated for simple, daily practices to keep our "temples" vibrant.

He warmly recommended:

  • Keeping clean (shaping healthy hygiene habits)

  • Drinking plenty of water for natural hydration

  • Eating plain, wholesome food to nourish the body simply

  • Engaging in regular exercise to keep our strength active

And advised us to avoid:

  • Excess salt and sitting down too much

  • Alcoholic spirits and becoming overweight

Above all else, Wesley believed that the most vital element of maintaining your health was achieving true ‘peace of mind’ through the love of God.

Whether you want to move your physical body, study an inspiring book, or quiet your mind in prayerful meditation, there is a place for you here. Come by yourself, or bring a neighbor! You can sign up ahead of time at the Welcome Desk, or simply show up on a day that works best for your schedule.
