As I experience life in retirement I sometimes think of “passing the baton” to the younger generation. We boomers have seen so many changes in our lifetimes. What might we pass on to our children and grandchildren? Accordingly, I took interest in a film about “The Last Class” taught by Robert Reich as he retires (https://www.thelastclassfilm.com/). (More on that below.) Figuring I was not the only person around here that would like to see it, I signed up for a showing in Racine at 7pm on Wednesday, August 27 at the Renaissance Theatre. (It is conveniently a bit east of I-94 on Hwy 20.)
We now have until July 28,2025 to obtain enough reservations to confirm the showing. Sixty-seven (67) reservations are required to finalize date. So far we have 11, with 9 days left to go. We’re looking for 56 more folks. That is why I am reaching out.
If you already know that you wish to reserve a seat, please visit https://tinyurl.com/74fujh4r Each reservation is $18 plus fees ($21.62). The total will not actually be charged to your account until the showing is confirmed on July 28.
Robert Reich (https://rbreich.com/) considers teaching to be his calling in life. Even though some of us know him better as an economist, author or public figure, it is the last class he teaches that touches him so deeply in this documentary. I understand that.
Here’s hoping that those interested will sign up and get this show confirmed. Share this invitation with anyone you think might be interested. (Teachers, retirees, parents, etc.). (Aren’t we all teachers?) Any questions? Contact mcrkeno@gmail.com
