Preparing for Lent

Mardi Gras is the time prior to Lent. It is a time for partying and using up all the fat in the house to prepare for a season of prayer, fasting and simplicity. The colors of Mardi Gras are gold, green and purple which symbolize the three aspects of Jesus' life: the gold for his reign, green for his life and teaching and purple for his death. This Sunday is also known as Transfiguration Sunday when the presence of Jesus was revealed to two of his disciples. Our theme that morning will be "Taking Off Our Masks." Special jazz music will accompany the service. Cupcakes decorated with gold, green and purple will be served. If you would be willing to make cupcakes for our fellowship time, please sign up at the Welcome Desk in the Great Room. Questions? Contact Pastor Susan
