Opportunities for Service In the New Year

Brought to you by the Missions Committee

The newly re-launched Missions Committee has been busy documenting all of the community projects we are (individually and collectively) involved in at First Church. Stay tuned for a new brochure with all the projects that make our community and our ministry stronger. In the meantime, the following are areas that have surfaced that could use strengthening with additional folks involved. Please prayerfully consider what project fits your time and talents:

Meals on Wheels - Delivering meals through KAFASI program to home bound individuals. First Church delivers two times a month. Need one additional person to assist. Contact: Gene Olson at 262.694.1695

Salvation Army Food Pantry - Be a backup when needed for delivering the food collected at First Church to the Salvation Army. Backup only. Normal delivery is once a month. Backup would be when regulars are on vacation or ill. Contact: Gene Olson at 262.694.1695 Kudos to Gene and Arlene Olson who have been involved with this and the above project for many years. Thank you! Let's give them some help!

Readers are Leaders/Kindergarten Readers - United Way and KUSD partner to provide reading tutors in select KUSD elementary schools. Kindergarten tutors will start in February and make a commitment to 30 minutes during the school day per week through May. Training sessions for tutors will begin in January 2020. Contact: Donna Namath at 262.515.1661 or go to www.kenoshaunitedway.org /Readers are Leaders tutoring program page.

United Methodist Women - Women and Children's Health Initiative - This group works on projects in the community to support this year's women and children heath focus area. Currently they are partnering with the Friendship Bible Study and Missions Committee to bring awareness and education workshops on Human Trafficking through Selah Freedom. But they can't expand to other health areas until they beef up their ranks. If this sounds interesting, join us after church one Sunday a month for our regular meetings, or just check us out once and see if there's a fit.

There's lots going on at First Church with the local community....where do you fit in?
